Structure
GMP is supported by a Board of Directors (BoD) and an Advisory Group (AG). The BoD meets once a year. And the AG provides support through an electronic network. Their respective roles are:
Role of the Board of Directors
The responsibilities of all Board Members are to:
- Provide guidance and advice to the organization for its planning and strategic development
- Serve as advocates for the organization with other individuals and organizations
The role of the President of the Board is to:
- Preside at meetings of the board
- Act as the chief volunteer representative of the organization
- Appoint and oversee all board committees
- Work closely with the president to ensure good communication between board members, volunteers and staff
- Ensure the active participation of board members
- Fill board vacancies in consultation with the president and other board members
The role of the Secretary/Treasurer is to:
- Record minutes of board meetings
- Maintain organizational records
- Make reports to the board about organizational finances
- Assist in preparing organizational budgets
Role of the Advisory Group
The responsibilities of the Advisory Group Members are to:
- Serve as advocates for the organization with other individuals and organizations
- Share information and suggestions with The Grandmother Project on individual or organizational contacts that may contribute to the accomplishment of the mission and goals of TGP;
- and to serve as technical resource persons according to their interests and capabilities
